In 2019, our area helped umpire the inaugural year of American Legion baseball in Southwest Colorado. Pagosa, Bayfield, Ignacio, Cortez and Dove Creek all participated. Hopefully, the league will get a little more formal next year in order to offer high school age kids some quality baseball. Keep it on your radar if your are interested in doing some summer ball in 2020.
The really fun thing is finally umpiring your own son in a higher level of baseball and then punching him out on a banger at third base. He still talked to me on the ride home!
