Colorado Adoption of Player/DH Rule

CHSAA logo
Colorado has made an exception to the Player/DH rule in regards to courtesy runners.

The state association has decided to make an exception to the new NFHS Player/DH rule. Colorado has decided that if the Player/DH is a pitcher or catcher, they ARE ALLOWED to use a courtesy runner.

Be aware that all of the NFHS materials being distributed to umpires state that courtesy runners can’t be used for the Player/DH if they are a pitcher or catcher. We are bound to run into coaches that aren’t aware of the Colorado exception and teams that have had umpires that might not know.

As you know, we will also run into teams from Utah and New Mexico. Umpires are going to have to be diligent about letting them know the Colorado rule adoption.

Fasten your seatbelts and return your tray tops to their full and upright position. We are expecting to run into some turbulence.
